Rabbit, Run by John Updike

Rabbit, Run: Updike, John: 9780449911655: Books

It’s 1959 and Harry ‘Rabbit’ Angstrom, a onetime high school sports superstar, is going nowhere. At 26 he is trapped in a second-rate existence – stuck with a fragile, alcoholic wife, a house full of overflowing ashtrays and discarded glasses, a young son and a futile job. With no way to fix things, he flees from his family and his home by beginning a 1,000 mile journey that he hopes will free him from his mediocre life.

The Reckoning by John Grisham The Reckoning: A Novel (9780385544153): Grisham, John ...

A Sunday Times best seller, John Grisham returns to Clanton to tell the story of an unthinkable murder, the bizarre trial that followed it, and its profound and lasting effect on the people of Ford County.

Pete Banning was Clanton’s favourite son, then one October morning he rose early, drove into town, walked into the church, and calmly shot and killed the Reverend Dexter Bell.

As if the murder wasn’t shocking enough, it was even more baffling that Pete’s only statement about it – to the sheriff, to his defence attorney, to the judge, to his family and friends, and to the people of Clanton – was ‘I have nothing to say’.

Nothing Ventured by Jeffrey Archer

Nothing Ventured (William Warwick Novels): Jeffrey ...

William Warwick has always wanted to be a detective, and decides, to his father’s dismay, that rather than become a barrister like the rest of his family, he will join London’s Metropolitan Police Force.

After graduating from university, William begins a career that will define his life: from his early months on the beat, to his first high-stakes case as a fledgling detective in Scotland Yard’s Art and Antiques squad. Investigating the theft of a priceless Rembrandt painting from the Fitzmolean Museum, he meets Beth Rainsford, a research assistant at the gallery who he falls hopelessly in love with, even as Beth guards a secret of her own that she’s terrified will come to light.

Rivers of London, by Ben Aaronovitch

Rivers of London (A Rivers of London novel): Ben ...

Set in modern-day London, the series follows policeman, Peter Grant, as he’s slowly introduced to the world of magic lurking beneath the city’s streets. If you’re reluctant to dive into a world of wizard’s hats and magic wands, don’t worry, author Ben Aaronovitch approaches the premise like a scientist, and Grant conducts controlled experiments that would put the stars of CSI to shame.

The Body, by Bill Bryson

The Body: A Guide for Occupants: Bill Bryson ...

Travelogue master Bill Bryson has retired to the library in recent years, and his surprisingly soft Midwestern tones are perfect for audiobooks. The Body takes a characteristic approach that will be familiar to his readers, unearthing fascinating, disgusting and hilarious nuggets of information about our bodies, in what’s billed as a ‘guide for occupants’. He explores everything from genetics to our immune system.

Good day! Writing an essay has consistently been a source of dread for me. I struggled to articulate my thoughts and convey my intended message. Then, while browsing the internet, I came across research proposal writing service , prompting me to explore additional support. The guidance I received was invaluable, and I received my completed assignment promptly. I’m pleased that I didn’t have to endure days of essay writing, thereby liberating myself from this burden.
