Football Transfers | This week’s biggest Premier League rumours

Nothing excites, inflames the imagination and sparks a debate amongst fans of the beautiful game like football rumours.

But the holy grail when it comes to these speculative conversations has to be Premier League transfers. Of course, rumours are just that – rumours – but some hold more weight than others, and amongst the plethora of mutterings and musings lives some interesting nuggets.

There’s no time when these rumours are discussed with more enthusiasm than the summer transfer window, and with just under three weeks until the 2019/20 season starts, the rumour mill has hit fever pitch.

Whenever Premier League transfer rumours are concerned, the focus is often on the figures being bandied about as much as the players associated with them. This is understandable however, as if you look at some of the world’s most expensive footballers it becomes glaringly obvious that money talks and it talks loudest in the Summer transfer window.

Here are some of the latest football transfer rumours doing the rounds at the moment.

Wilfried Zaha to Arsenal/ Everton

Arsenal had done all the early running in the battle for Wilfried Zaha’s signature, with the player seemingly set on a move to the Emirates. Stan Kroenke seems to have other ideas though, with the Gunners reported £45 million transfer budget falling way short of Crystal Palace’s valuation.

Despite being early 3/4 favourites to land the Ivorian the Gunners have now drifted to 9/1 after seeming to turn their attention to Nicolas Pepe. Everton have emerged as contenders in recent days after having a £55m deal turned down. They’re 5/4 to sign Zaha before the end of the window.

With just seven days left in the window, Grosvenorsport.com now see Crystal Palace as the most likely destination for Zaha to be playing his football, at least until January. He’s 3/10 to remain at Selhurst Park.

Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba could be another player who opts to stay-put after a summer of speculation.

The Frenchmen sent United fans into hysterics earlier in the summer after suggesting he may seek a new challenge elsewhere.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made it clear though that Pogba would be part of his plans moving forward and so it has proved so far. The midfielder is currently available at around 2/5 at Grosvenorsport.com to remain at Manchester United beyond the summer.

If he does decide to move on, Real Madrid remain the outstanding favourites to land Pogba’s signature. Zidane’s side have invested heavily this summer as they attempt to reassert their dominance in Spain. Los Blancos are available at 5/4.

Busy Week at United

It’s not just Pogba that has been subject to rumours around Manchester United this summer. It has been widely reported that record-signing Romelu Lukaku will leave the club after falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

It emerged in the week that Italian giants Juventus were prepared to offer Argentinian forward Paulo Dybala in order to make a deal for Lukaku happen before the deadline. Whether or not Dybala will be keen to move the other way is yet to be seen.

If Juve are unable to get the deal over the line, it is believed Italian rivals Inter Milan are waiting in the wings. Inter manager Antonio Conte has long been an admirer of the Belgian forward and would love to boost their Serie A prospects by signing him.
