How many times have you heard about “the fight of the century”, “a miracle” or an “unbelievable performance” during a relatively forgettable sporting event? Hyperbole like this seamlessly rolls from the tongues of sports commentators as effortlessly as taking a breath.
However, one event which needs no distorting is the Goliath: the biggest live poker tournament outside Las Vegas*. With a field of nearly 6,000 entrants and a total prize pool of more than £575,000, it is no exaggeration to say that this event is as gargantuan as its name.
Between Thursday 27th July and 6th August, poker players of varying abilities will gather at the Grosvenor Casino Coventry (Ricoh Arena) to take part in one of the world’s most exciting poker events.
