Premier League Preview – Gameweek 8

Another week of domestic football is on the horizon, and that can only mean one thing – another week of Million Pound Picks, the free-to-play Grosvenor Casinos game where you can get your hands on ONE MILLION POUNDS.

The rules of the game? Pick 10 first goalscorers across the Premier League and Championship this weekend. To win the big one, you need to get all 10 correct. But there’s also a fantastic £2000 prize given away every single week for the person who selects the most right in that gameweek.

And if you hit a hat-trick by getting three right, we’ll give you a £10 Grosvenor Sport Free Bet. So, give your crystal ball a polish and see if you can come up with the goods in Gameweek 8.

Now, we don’t want your weekend ruined before it’s even begun, so we’re skipping the first two Premier League fixtures and including a pair of Championship games instead.

Maybe you can spend your Friday evening fine-tuning your predictions, which need to be made by 12.25pm on Saturday – five minutes before the opening games kick off.

Because we’re nice, we thought we’d help you out by offering a little insight for this week’s top 10.

Saturday – starting in style

Two 12.30 games on Saturday lunchtime. Reading and Everton are surprise high-flyers this term, but the pair come into the weekend on the back of consecutive losses.

However, we’re on board with both hosts here. Michael Olise has tricked, turned and teased opposition defences this season and the 18-year-old winger is a 9/1 shout with Grosvenor Sport to score first against the inconsistent Stoke City.

At Goodison Park, we’re banking on a set-piece to break the deadlock. Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are always good value for an effort on goal thanks to Everton’s array of dead-ball specialists – and we’re opting for the former to further expose an out-of-sorts Man Utd.

Saturday – the best of the rest

Quite frankly, it’s crazy that Emi Buendia is still in the Championship. So hats off to Norwich for that. The Argentinian scored a sublime goal against Bristol City last week, fired off several shots against Millwall, and Swansea are next in line. A 13/1 shout to score first? Let’s be avin’ you.

We won’t go into too much detail for the remaining Saturday games. Leeds can bounce back at Crystal Palace and who better to back than Patrick Bamford, who has six goals already this season.

Timo Werner is bang in form, Sheffield United are not – so we’re all in on the Chelsea hotshot. And despite a Fulham win last week, we’re taking Said Benrahma to grab his first West Ham goal.

That’s Saturday done. Next.

Super Sunday

Squeaky bum time. Last week’s winner of the weekly £2,000 only needed five correct goalscorers – so with four games here, these selections could be crucial – so make sure you bring your Sunday best.

In the first match, you have to go for Spurs. And surely you have to go for Son. Or Kane, I guess. Then we have big games between the dark horses in the top-four race and two title-chasers, Man City and Liverpool. Are City still title-chasers? Hmm.

Anyway, Pep Guardiola’s men have tightened up their defence in recent weeks – whereas Liverpool haven’t really got one. The injuries are mounting, and the home side can surely take advantage. Gabriel Jesus returned with a midweek goal and could profit against a makeshift Reds defence.

Before that, it’s Leicester v Wolves. Both meetings finished 0-0 last season, so why not take advantage of the ‘No goalscorer’ option here?

And to round off Gameweek 8, we’re going for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who ended his goal drought last weekend. Aston Villa’s defence is… er, back to normal… and Arsenal should be able to take advantage on Sunday night.
