Premier League | Manchester United v Leicester | Preview and Odds

The Premier League returns and all the drama, heartbreak and joy that comes with it will kick off at Old Trafford as Manchester United face Leicester City on Friday evening.

With some key players potentially lacking match fitness after the World Cup, our football expert takes you through the best  Premier League bets from the opening act of the most dramatic league on earth.

Red Devils ready for title challenge

After a difficult pre-season that has seen Jose Mourinho criticise nearly everyone associated with Manchester United, it is time to see if he can still deliver where it counts.

With one of the strongest squads in the league at his disposal, bolstered by the signings of Fred and Diogo Dalot, you would still expect the Red Devils to be in the equation come the end of the season. Manchester United to win at 4/9, and United to win both halves looks good value at 6/5.

Foxes looking to steal a win

Leicester City are only three seasons removed from winning the title, and although some key players from that Championship team have left members like Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton remain.

Much has been made of Harry Maguire’s future this summer, however it is unlikely he suits up for either side after an extended break.

It would be a surprise if Leicester were to pull off a result at Old Trafford, but this is a time when all clubs can dream, and the Foxes are 7/1 to claim a surprise victory, whilst talisman Vardy is 3/1 to score anytime.

Defence-minded Man Utd should prove too strong

Despite much being made of the wealth of attacking talent perhaps underutilised by Mourinho, I can see this game being a scrappy affair with both teams showing early season nerves under the Friday night lights.

While all the talk is over United needing to sign a defender I still expect Mourinho to set his side up to be well-organised and I’ll be backing Manchester United to win to nil at 5/4.
