Premier League | Game week 2 | Preview and Odds

The Premier League returned with a bang last weekend, and there is lots of action to look forward to.

It all starts on Saturday, and Manchester City look to negotiate the next two months without arguably the best player in the league, Kevin de Bruyne, while West Ham look to bounce back from their 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Liverpool with a win against Bournemouth.

Our Premier League betting expert takes you through the best Premier League bets from the upcoming weekend.

Cardiff City v Newcastle United

Saturday sees Cardiff City’s first home game in the Premier League since 2014, and the Bluebirds host Newcastle.

Both teams lost their opening game, however Neil Etheridge saved a penalty for Cardiff, and the Magpies deserved more from their spirited defeat to Tottenham.

Despite it being a great occasion for Neil Warnock’s Cardiff, I think Newcastle will prove to be too strong for this recently promoted team, and I will back a Newcastle win at 11/8.

Chelsea v Arsenal

Saturday evening will have one of the season’s showpiece fixtures in only the second game week, as Chelsea face Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, with new managers in both dugouts.

Chelsea won their first game under Maurizio Sarri 3-0 at Huddersfield, whereas Arsenal stuttered to a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City.

Both teams boast some very exciting attacking players, in the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Eden Hazard and Willian, but have question marks over their defensive abilities. I think a Chelsea win and both teams to score is excellent value at 9/4.

Manchester City v Huddersfield & Brighton v Manchester United

Super Sunday this weekend will feature both Manchester sides, and it is extremely hard to look past them. City face Huddersfield at home where that should be a straightforward home win, whereas United face a lackluster Brighton side at the Amex.

Both sides should cruise to victory here, with Huddersfield and Brighton both potentially facing the second-season syndrome, and the sheer talent of the Manchester sides being enough to gain the victory. I like the look of a double with Manchester United on a -1 handicap, and Manchester City on a -2 handicap, which has odds of 4/1.

Crystal Palace v Liverpool

Finally, we have our first Monday Night Football of the Premier League season, which sees Crystal Palace face Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

Both teams performed well in their opener, and Liverpool’s front three is well known for it’s scoring output.

However, Palace dealt with a difficult and physical attack against Fulham last week, and I can see them stifling Mane, Salah and co-especially at Selhurst Park. It will be loud, in your face, and I think Crystal Palace will pull off a minor upset, and win. This can be backed at 11/2.
