World Cup qualification for England is done and dusted, and with thoughts on Russia 2018 on the backburner for now, it’s back to domestic matters this weekend.
The eighth round of Premier League fixtures is around the corner, with some intriguing clashes at both ends of what is still an embryonic table.
Iain Spragg tells us his Premier League football predictions…
Liverpool v Manchester United Odds | 14 Oct 12:30
Liverpool against Manchester United at Anfield on Saturday is undoubtedly the headline game.
Despite the seven-point difference between the bitterest of rivals, there’s no separating them in the betting with both sides 33/20 to take the three points on Merseyside.
Manchester City v Stoke City Odds | 14 Oct 15:00
League leaders Manchester City entertain Stoke City and although the Potters haven’t torn up any trees yet this season, they’re unlikely to roll over at the Etihad.
Mark Hughes’ boys have a victory and a draw to their name from their last three visits to the blue half of Manchester and are 14/1 to inflict a first defeat of the season on Pep Guardiola’s team. City are 2/13 to make it seven wins from eight league assignments.
Tottenham v Bournemouth Odds | 14 Oct 15:00
Red-hot Harry Kane returns to the Spurs ranks looking to score for a sixth consecutive game for club and country.
He’s 8/25 to find the back of the net against Bournemouth at Wembley on Saturday.

Crystal Palace v Chelsea Odds | 14 Oct 15:00
Poor old Crystal Palace are yet to muster either a goal or a point so far this season and champions Chelsea aren’t going to gift wrap either for them in the London derby at Selhurst Park.
The chances of the Eagles finally soaring under new boss Roy Hodgson are rated no better than 15/2 while the Blues are 4/11 to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Man City before the international break.
Watford v Arsenal Odds | 14 Oct 17:30
Watford fans have of late been experiencing unfamiliar feelings of vertigo with their team currently eighth in the table but Arsenal are 3/5 favourites to bring Marco Silva’s side back down to earth.
The Gunners haven’t lost at Vicarage Road since 1987 and if you’re convinced that run will come to an end this weekend, you can get 22/5 on the Hornets doing the business.

Burnley v West Ham Odds | 14 Oct 15:00
Burnley’s away form this season has been sensational – unbeaten against Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton so far – but they’re at Turf Moor on Saturday against West Ham and only marginal favourites at 8/5 to win this one.
The Hammers have picked up just one point from a possible 12 on the road this term and are 37/20 to cure their travel sickness.
Swansea City v Huddersfield Town Odds | 14 Oct 15:00
Swansea’s clash with Huddersfield at the Liberty Stadium completes Saturday’s fixtures.
It’s a historic first ever top-flight meeting between the two clubs with the Swans 11/10 to register only their second win of the season, the Terriers 29/10 to continue what has been an impressive debut Premier League campaign.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Everton Odds | 15 Oct 13:30
Sunday’s kick-offs with Brighton against Everton on the south coast.
The home side are 9/4 to pick up the three points, the Toffees are 27/20 while midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson is 11/4 to open his Premier League account for the club following his £45million summer switch from Swansea.
Southampton v Newcastle United Odds | 15 Oct 16:00
Newcastle’s last four league game visits to St Mary’s to face Southampton have ended in four defeats, 13 goals conceded and just one scored, so it’s no surprise the home side are 17/20 favourites to inflict more misery on the Magpies.
Rafa Benitez’s boys are a 33/10 shot to emerge from one of the longest journeys in the top-flight with the spoils.
Leicester City v West Bromwich Odds | 16 Oct 18:00
Monday night sees Leicester welcome West Brom to the King Power.
The two teams have mustered a meagre 15 goals between this season and it’s 8/1 on a goalless draw in the Midlands.
