Grosvenor Sport ambassador Jamie O’Hara is on hand to break down three must-watch matchups in the upcoming Premier League weekend, featuring Tottenham’s clash with Manchester United.
Brighton vs Chelsea – Friday 20:00
Brighton have had a lot of draws this season, along with a few shaky performances and results; I haven’t been too sure about them. That said, they’re more than capable of putting together a performance that can beat most teams, including Chelsea – but they’re not as reliable as they’ve been in the last few seasons.
Chelsea are also a bit fragile at the moment; all of a sudden there’s a bit of pressure on Enzo Maresca. Some of the players they’ve relied on to win games haven’t turned up recently. They simply have to qualify for the Champions League, especially when fifth place will probably be enough.
At the moment, I don’t know what Chelsea team is going to turn up, which is why I’m not convinced they’ll go to the Amex and get three points. I can see a repeat result from last week.
Prediction: Brighton 2-1 Chelsea (9/1)
Manchester City vs Newcastle – Saturday 15:00
Erling Haaland has found form once again and is giving Man City a better chance of winning games as they try to climb back up the table. Their problem is their defence; it looks really shaky. Ederson has let them down a bit recently and the back four look really stiff and jaded – they don’t look confident at all. They look a shadow of what they were last season.
I think Alexander Isak is going to cause Man City major problems; he’ll want to make an impact in games against big teams. The top teams in Europe will be keeping their eyes on Isak come the summer; I think Newcastle will have to battle to keep him at St James’ Park.
I fancy Newcastle to get a result at the Etihad. I think they look brighter and have more energy; they’ll be up for it.
Prediction: Manchester City 1-1 Newcastle (7/1)
Tottenham vs Manchester United – Sunday 16:30
Playing at home doesn’t really make a difference for Tottenham with how they’re playing at the moment. I have no idea what type of performance they’ll produce. Maybe the players will want to try and prove a point after getting knocked out of the two cup competitions – who knows? On top of the injuries they have to their key players, I think it’s going to be a scrappy game and not a lot in it between the teams.
Manchester United are as dreadful as Tottenham are at the moment. Ruben Amorim is still running on the ‘new manager bounce’ to avoid any talk of getting sacked. But at some point, you have to start delivering results or at least putting in decent performances. He won’t stay in the job for long if he keeps playing 3-4-3 and gets comfortably beaten every week.
Both of these managers are under pressure at the moment, and three points would really go a long way, but maybe Tottenham fans can cheer their team on to a win.
Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Manchester United (8/1)
