Grosvenor Sport ambassador places £50 charity bet on Red Devils to be 11th at 22/1.
Muddled Manchester United are set for their lowest Premier League finish of all time – according to Jamie O’Hara, who has placed a £50 charity bet on them to end the season 11th.
“Man United are going to be a shambles this season – they’ve already started shockingly,” said the Grosvenor Sport ambassador. “I think they’re going to have one of the worst seasons they’ve ever had.”
After humiliating defeats to Brighton and Brentford a bemused O’Hara said on talkSPORT that – at 200/1 with Grosvenor Sport – they could even go down if Erik ten Hag fails to make instant improvements.
The Premier League’s most successful club and 13-time champions have only once finished outside of the top six – when they ended the first post-Sir Alex Ferguson season in seventh in 2013/14.
But O’Hara is convinced they will be in the bottom half of the final standings for the first time since 1989/90 and the days of the old First Division – when Madonna’s Vogue topped the charts, a pint of milk cost 30p, and Fergie clung onto his job by landing the FA Cup.
“I’m going to say they’re going to be page two of the Premier League – they’re going to finish 11th,” he told Grosvenorsport.com when placing his punt. “They’re going to be an absolute joke – that’s where my money is going.”
Any winnings from O’Hara’s wager will go to Grosvenor Sport’s official charity partner, Carers Trust.
And with Liverpool up next for the basement boys on Monday night, it could be a while before pointless United get off the mark.
Looking ahead to the North West grudge match, O’Hara said: “The gift that keeps on giving is Manchester United right now – it ain’t getting any better for them let me tell you!”
