NFL | Teams gear up for playoff action in week 17 | Preview and Odds

The NFL enters its final week of the regular season, and there are only a few teams still in the playoff hunt. With some incredibly exciting matchups to look forward to this week, it is set to be tense for fans, and there are bound to be excellent highlights.

Our NFL betting expert is on hand to guide you through the best bets from the final Sunday of the NFL regular season.

Pittsburgh v Cincinnati

Pittsburgh enter week 17 in a tough spot, dropping some close games in recent weeks to hand the advantage in the AFC North to Baltimore. The Steelers need a result here, and luckily, they face an awful Bengals team, lacking their starting QB, two starting receivers, and are just looking forward to the offseason already.

Pittsburgh are a comfortable 1/9 favourite, and are well worth backing at 10/11 with a -14.5 handicap. They need to win, and win well, if they are to have any chance of making the playoffs.

Tennessee v Indianapolis

Sunday night’s late game, Tennessee are another team that currently sits on the outside looking in of the AFC playoff bubble. They face a strong Colts team, who themselves have fallen just short in their late-season playoff push.

This should be a cracker of a game, especially if the Titans know that a win will take them to the playoffs. Unfortunately, Andrew Luck has had a tremendous second half of the season, and the Indianapolis defence is plucky and hard-nosed. The Colts are comfortable favourites at 8/15, but Mike Vrabel’s Titans have been hard to beat, and at 6/4 look good value.

Minnesota v Chicago

This game could have large implications for the playoff race in the NFC. Chicago have already wrapped up the NFC North, and they face a Vikings team that is just inside the playoff bubble but could be on the wrong side come Monday morning.

Minnesota need to win, or hope the Eagles lose, if they are to have any chance of making it into the playoffs. Minnesota are huge favourites at 2/5, and the assumption is that Chicago will rest some key starters so they are fresh for a Super Bowl run.

However, I am yet to be impressed by Kirk Cousins in high-pressure situations, and think Chicago is really good value at 9/5, to ruin their rival’s season and gain some momentum before what could be a successful playoff run.
