Million Pound Picks Gameweek 22: Premier League Preview

More Premier League football? Yes, please! The midweek action was wild. Brighton defeated Liverpool on a Wednesday that saw all five away teams win, while Man Utd went goal-crazy as Southampton shipped nine for the second time under Ralph Hasenhuttl. That all sets us up nicely for another weekend of Million Pound Picks – your weekly chance to win ONE MILLION POUNDS.

That’s the jackpot, but there’s also £2,000 that to be awarded to our best Million Pound Picker – and that could be you. Pick 10 goalscorers and if they’re first on the scoresheet, you could be on your way to cash. Last weekend, one lucky player predicted 5/10 to grab the £2k prize. It must be won, and it’s free to play. So what are you waiting for?

And if you’re new to Million Pound Picks, we recommend giving our Beginner’s Guide a read – with all the info you need and a few top tips to help you on your way. But now, it’s time to take a look at the weekend’s games.

Let’s do lunch

The first game is a lunchtime kick-off, so make sure you get your Million Pound Picks in by 12:25pm, five minutes before that first whistle. Aston Villa came undone in midweek against the on-fire West Ham, but performances have been better than recent results suggest – and they could have too much offensive firepower for Arsenal. Sound strange, doesn’t it? But we’re going with Ollie Watkins to help Villa on their way against the Gunners.

The FPL heroes

Callum Wilson. Two goals and an assist in his last two games. A couple of assists for Michail Antonio at Villa, and Bruno Fernandes racking up 17 points for his efforts against Southampton. These guys have helped many Fantasy Premier League players out recently – and we’re thinking goals, goals, goals this weekend.

Wilson comes up against that Saints defence, Antonio goes up against lowly Fulham and Fernandes faces Everton. No easy feat for the latter pair, but the Hammers won’t fear anyone right now and the Red Devils have the wind in their sails after their midweek performance.

Premier League betting is available with Grosvenor Sport, and an anytime treble on the trio pays 11/1.

Our other Saturday scorer is Lewis Dunk, who technically is an FPL hero – Brighton haven’t conceded in four games which is mightily impressive. Brighton’s neat football could see them awarded free-kicks aplenty in and around the area, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a set-piece prove decisive in this game. If you want to flip the script, Ben Mee and James Tarkowski are solid shouts. But we’re sticking with the Seagulls and the skipper is our guy.

Super Sunday

West Brom’s defence is… well, shambolic. They surrendered a lead to bottom side Sheffield United and even though Spurs look below par, this is the dream game to get them on track. Son Heung-Min is the obvious choice with Harry Kane injured.

James Maddison grabbed two assists at Craven Cottage on Wednesday but might be able to get back amongst the goals at Molineux. Wolves’ poor run ended with a win over 9-man Arsenal, but the Foxes should have too much in what is affectionately known as the Canidae derby. Look it up.

The big match comes at Anfield, where Liverpool haven’t scored a goal in FOREVER. An extension to that drought here and their title ambitions are just about done. A team who can’t break down Brighton or Burnley are unlikely to breach the Man City defence – and Gabriel Jesus is our choice to poach the opener for the Champions-elect.

Last but not least, Sheffield Utd v Chelsea. The Blades are not being handed easy fixtures after each win and subsequent glimmer of hope. If that’s not demoralising enough, seeing the teams above the drop zone now picking up points must be really annoying. They won’t stop fighting. But Chelsea have the talent to pick them apart and Tammy Abraham is the man most likely to profit.

Monday Night Football

Leeds’ defensive shortfalls cost them against Everton in midweek and they could well suffer the same fate against a talented Palace side, but we’re going with Raphinha to help the Whites bounce back. The midfielder loves a shot and he has every chance of breaking the Elland Road deadlock.
