Million Pound Picks Gameweek 21: Premier League Preview

Gameweek 21 of Million Pound Picks is… open! Grosvenor Sport’s Premier League prediction game with a £1M jackpot is back, with a guaranteed £2,000 cash prize also up for grabs.

In midweek, it took just four correct answers for our top player to land the £2k prize – so what are you waiting for? Get your Million Pound Picks in up to five minutes before the big kick-off on Saturday and it could be you.

The rules? Simple. Pick 10 first goalscorers from the 10 Premier League matches. The more you get, the more chance you have of winning the top prize. There’s also a £10 Free Bet for anyone who gets three right. And most crucially of all, it’s absolutely FREE TO PLAY. Read on for our selections, plus a handful of great odds if you’re after some football betting this weekend. Here we go.

Starting in style

It’s vital to get off to a fast start. And that all-important first goal is going to come from Everton. Newcastle showed improvement in midweek, but that couldn’t prevent defeat to an out-of-form Leeds. Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees were denied all three points at Leicester, but James Rodriguez was on the scoresheet and Dominic Calvert-Lewin is fighting fit again – so we’re going for the Everton striker to set the ball rolling.

Crystal Palace and Wolves are both looking to find some form, so this is a toughie. We don’t expect a classic, but the hosts seem to have firepower at the minute and Wilfried Zaha is the natural choice – especially at 11/2 in the Premier League betting.

How about Sheffield Utd, eh? One win and five points all season, before a visit to Manchester. A famous 2-1 win at Old Trafford sets them up nicely for… another visit to Manchester. It’s hard to imagine the new Premier League leaders Man City losing to the Blades, and Riyad Mahrez is our man for the job. If you do fancy Chris Wilder and his men to do the unthinkable, then you can try your luck at 22/1!

Another team in trouble are West Brom. Sam Allardyce came in to shore up the Baggies’ backline, but they’re now on course to break records for the worst Premier League defence of all time. Some thought that would be Fulham this season, but Scott Parker has learned on the job and given the Cottagers hope. So has talented winger Ademola Lookman, and that’s who we’re looking at to hurry things along at the Hawthorns.

Will Man Utd bounce back? Their Premier League away record is the best in the business, but Arsenal have turned things around under Mikel Arteta in recent weeks. Bukayo Saka is one of those really prospering, and the England winger is our choice to put another dent in the title hopes of the Red Devils.

The Southampton squad has been decimated by injuries right now and if any team can take advantage of a lack of full-backs, it’s Aston Villa. Dean Smith’s men somehow came away with nothing from Wednesday’s trip to Turf Moor, but Jack Grealish was imperious and the Villa skipper is our St Mary’s selection.

Sunday supplement

On to Sunday. Thomas Tuchel’s first game as the new Chelsea manager was a bit of a damp squib, but can he and his Blues break down Burnley? Frank Lampard’s departure could open the door for Timo Werner and Kai Havertz to actually play in their proper positions… so we’re taking one of the German duo. It’s Timo time.

Will Timo Werner fire again under new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel?

We end with three more fancies. Harvey Barnes was Leicester’s brightest spark against Everton in midweek and can be the man to break down Leeds Utd’s BielsaBall. And then we go to a traditionally prolific pair for West Ham v Liverpool and Brighton v Tottenham. West Ham are on fine form but Liverpool have to get out of their rut, and Mo Salah is the most likely man to do it. And Harry Kane can round off the weekend with a goal or two up against Brighton at the AMEX.

If you’re interested in a Barnes, Salah and Kane Sunday treble, then step right this way. With Grosvenor Sport, you can grab it at a fantastic 14/1.

That’s us. Now over to you.
