Two trash talking welterweight contenders are set to square off in the main event of Fight Night London on Saturday in London: Darren Till and Jorge Masvidal.
There are some huge match ups across the full card, some of the strongest that a UFC London card has seen, littered with big names and those with big potential.
Read on below for our full UFC London main event preview, including our expert’s best bets for the fight.
Darren Till v Jorge Masvidal
Twenty-six-year-old Darren Till (17-1) is fresh off his first UFC Championship defeat to Tyron Woodley in a Welterweight world title fight that lasted just two rounds. The Liverpudlian needs a big performance on Saturday to springboard his name back into world title contention – losing is no option.
His opponent has been fighting in professional mixed martial arts competitions for over 15 years, recording 32 wins in 45 professional fights, but is looking on the wane after losing two fights in a row and coming into this fight at 34 years of age.
In typical journeyman style, Masvidal has fought many of his fights in foreign territory, travelling to Japan and South Korea among others. This will be the first time he has fought a professional fight in the UK.
This one should be a fairly routine win for Darren Till, but he should not be overlooking the task Masvidal presents, a man who knows a win in this fight puts him back in contention for a subsequent big money bout – he’ll be fired up.
Nonetheless, we expect Till to land his trademark left-hook in the early rounds with effect – you can get Till to stop Masvidal in Round 1 at 11/2 or to win Round 2 at 15/2 with Grosvenorsport.com
Should Jorge Masvidal pull a surprise upset, it’ll likely be a decision result rather than a stoppage, as Masvidal has notched 17 of his 32 wins by decision during his career – you can get this here at 4/1.
