Live Casino Dealer of the Month – Carla

Our Live Casino dealers play an integral role in the overall experience of our award-winning Live Casino app.

Breakdowns in the number of live tables that are running and the minimum bet you can place on each game are discussed before you begin playing a certain feature.

We’d like to introduce this month’s dealer of the month, Carla, who we caught up with to find out a little bit more about…

What is your name and how old are you?

Carla, I’m 29 years old.

What is your nationality?

I’m Portuguese

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs, but they are in Portugal with my mother.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Outside of work my hobbies are watching movies, TV series’ and reading books.

Favourite sport/team/individual?

I like football and of course, my favourite player is Cristiano Ronaldo.

What type of music do you listen to?

My favourite type of music is kizomba (African music), reggaeton and electronic music.

Have you attended any music events?

Yes, I already attend some music events, but only in Portugal

What is your favourite food and why?

Well, that is a very good question, I love food, including most of the Portuguese food, I could make a long long list of my favourites, but it would take too long and take up all of this blog!

What is your favourite holiday destination and why?

I would love to go to New York because I’m a city person and I have never been there before.

What did you study at college/university?

I studied photography, so basically, I’m also a photographer in my spare time.

When you were growing up what was your dream job?

To be a journalist as that would go well alongside my photography skills

If you were not a live dealer, what job would you be doing now?

For sure, something to do with photography.

What is your biggest career achievement so far?

After just two months of working at a shop, i was offered the job of store manager which I was delighted to take.

If you could be a live dealer to any five famous people in the world who would they be and why?

I couldn’t pick five players but one would definitely be the actor Kevin Hart. He is a poker player, and he is also very funny so that would be a great night.

What do your friends and family think about your job?

My family are proud of my job, but my friends used to joke about it, but only in a good way of course.

How long have you been a live dealer?

I have been working as a live dealer for almost 11 months now.

How did you find out about the possibility of becoming a live dealer?

Actually, when start working for Grosvenor Casinos,  my first goal was to become a live dealer before I was a shuffler. I only applied to become a live dealer when I felt confident in speaking English fluently.

Have you ever worked in a land-based casino and if so, what was your role?

I had never worked in any land-based casino before so it was a new experience for me.

What first attracted you to become a live dealer with Grosvenor?

The environment in the studio

Have you had any previous live casino dealing experience before joining Grosvenor?

No

What do you think are the three key skills you require to become a good live dealer?

Good presentation, knowledge of the strategy/rules and entertainment on the table

What is the best piece of advice you would give to someone looking to become a live casino dealer?

I would say “the table is yours, no matter what”.

What part of your job do you enjoy the most?

Having fun with the players.

What challenges does your job present?

I don’t see any challenges.

Tell us a funny story from what has happened on one of your tables while at work

I was having a chat with a player and a shuffler came to table to shuffle the cards and the player said “Tell the shuffler that I have a girlfriend” and I asked why that reaction and he replied “because he gave me that look” and then I said “but we can not see you” and his answer was “so why do I have my webcam on?”

What is your favourite game to deal and why?

Blackjack, because I know all the strategy.
