Harry Skelton: It’s been a bit of a frustrating week but Ch’tibello should go close

It has been a bit of a frustrating week for the yard both in terms of winners and the weather.

We hit the post a number of times last weekend with the likes of Cadzand, Two Taffs and Nube Negra all finishing second. We have also been running a few in bumpers and they are running well.

But a few have just been that bit too fresh and have been doing a little bit too much in the early stages of races. It’s frustrating to go so close but there’s certainly some nice potential in the yard.

The weather hasn’t been ideal this week with a lot of postponements, but the safety of the horses and everybody involved is the priority and it won’t be long before it clears up.

We are lucky to have very patient owners who are obviously really excited to see their horses run and it won’t be long before they are able to do so as we head into the spring and better ground.

Head over to the Grosvenor Sport website for all of our horse racing betting odds.

Wincanton, Saturday

Solo – 1.37

It’s great to pick up an extra ride for Paul Nicholls and I am really looking forward to climbing aboard Solo – it would be great to begin the day with an early winner.

He ran twice in Auteuil, going close before winning readily on heavy ground in November, so the ground should be no issue and he clearly has some ability.

Ch’tibello – 2.45

He’s in very good form at home and we have had this race in mind for him for a while now.

He has run and won on soft and heavy in the past so the ground won’t give him any issues. He’s finished second in this race twice, so hopefully he puts it all together and it can be third time lucky.

West To The Bridge – 3.23

He didn’t quite get home last time out at Sandown and this drop down in trip should suit. The ground presents no issues, though the handicapper could prove to be in charge.

Get On The Yager – 4.32

He keeps dropping down the weights but in truth he is becoming a little disappointing now. He made a mistake last time out at Ascot and just never made up for it.

It’s a little frustrating because we are happy with him at home and if he were to put it all together he would be really well handicapped on his old form. He’s not getting any younger but we are hopeful.

Ascot, Saturday

Frisson Collonges – 4.10

He’s our only ride at Ascot and arrives off the back of a really good run at Hereford. He was beaten by the shortest of distances that day and should run well here.

We see him as a chaser in the making and this time next year that’s what he will be doing. But there’s no reason why he won’t run a big race again here.

Market Rasen, Sunday

Gilka – 2.05

She gets a nice weight allowance here which comes in handy. She ran well in what was a muddling race at Ludlow last time and she is in great form at home.

She wouldn’t want any more rain but there is a lot more to come from her, especially when she starts running on the better spring ground in the coming months.

Molly Ollys Wishes – 2.40

This is a qualifier so we have dropped back in trip a bit in order to try and reach the final. It looks a decent enough opportunity and will hopefully take a lot of beating come race time.

So Lonely, Robin Gold – 3.15

I ride So Lonely in this contest but she was well beaten at Uttoxeter last time out. She has had a nice winter break and is another who we will see a lot more of on better ground.

We have only just got Robin Gold and she was running okay last time out before coming down. We are sending him back over hurdles just to try and get a bit more confidence back into her.

Scorched Earth – 3.45

My final ride gets the four-year-old allowance and that will certainly help. The track and ground look sure to suit and is another going really well at home so hopefully we have a good chance.
