Grosvenor Sport ambassador Harry Skelton is back in the saddle on Boxing Day, and the jockey is feeling good about two of his festive favourites.
Shan Blue won twice at Wetherby in October with a dazzling display of jumping and seemingly more to give. The unexposed 6-year-old runs in the 1:50 Novices’ Chase at Kempton and Harry is feeling pretty confident in his bid for a Grade 1 triumph.
“He’s going into the race as favourite. We’re excited about running him, he’s been very good this season and he’s going to take a bit of beating.”
However, Harry’s first ride of the day comes in the 12:40 Novices’ Hurdle on Third Time Lucki, another trained by brother Dan Skelton – and the 5-year-old is also at the top of the market at the time of writing. “It was a good run last time in graded company but the race didn’t really work out for us,” said Harry, with the 5-year old leaving himself too much to do on the soft ground at Cheltenham. “He’s a horse with a hell of a lot of ability and he’s in great form – we’re really looking forward to it.”
