This past year has changed everyone’s TV watching habits, more and more of us are turning to documentaries to stay in touch with the outside world. Plus, they are just highly entertaining.
It’s no different for us here at Grosvenor Casino. So we have compiled a list of our Top 5 documentaries that are absolute must watches. We hope you agree, but do let us know your comments in the Comment section below.

David and Goliath
This 2020 Documentary follows the journey of David Haye, boxing Heavyweight Champion, swapping the boxing ring for the poker table. In at the biggest live poker tournament outside Las Vegas, at our very own Grosvenor Casinos Goliath 2019, David Haye attempts to take on some of the world’s biggest and toughest poker players known. You can catch this fantastic documentary on Amazon Prime. It’s definitely one to watch, especially for all of you keen poker players out there.
The Last Dance
The Last Dance is undoubtedly one of the biggest sporting documentaries to be released in 2020 as it follows the career, personal life and rise of the infamous Michael Jordan. You don’t have to be a huge basketball fan to know exactly who Michael Jordan is – from having the world’s most recognisable trainer collection with Nike, to appearing alongside Buggs Bunny and co in Space Jam to just being a huge key player in today’s popular culture, The Last Dance really is a guaranteed ‘slam dunk’ of a documentary, available to watch on Netflix.
Defiant ones
It’s time for a music documentary, and what greater place to start than the Defiant Ones. It focuses on the careers of and partnership between Jimmy Lovine and Dr. Dre, co-founders of Beats Electronics. Focusing on their rise to incredible wealth and fame, this documentary really does give you an insight into just how much hardwork and dedication went in to create these iconic celebrities lives as they know them today. Focusing on music acts such as NWA, U2, Eminem, Patti Smith and Tom Petty to name but a few this really is a fantastic documentary for any music fan. Originally created by HBO you can now watch this through Netflix.
Manchester United – The Class of ‘92
No matter who you support it is hard to deny that the 98/99 Man Utd Treble Win showcased what really was and still is one of the greatest football sides English football has ever seen. The documentary starts by focusing on the careers of 6 football players coming up through the ranks and who will now go down in history as an undeniable ‘Dream Team’ – David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Ryan Giggs, Gary Neville, Phil Neville, and Paul Scholes. This hilarious and uplifting documentary was directed by Danny Boyle and is available to watch on Amazon Prime. We really do urge you to give this film a watch.
Megastructures – The world’s Biggest Casino
This fascinating documentary takes a look at the planning and building that went into creating the largest Casino in the world, housed on a ‘Las Vegas Style’ Strip built on unreclaimed land in Macau. It also features the construction of other immense buildings such as a mall with 100’s of shops and an impressive 5,000 room hotel.
This documentary gives a great insight into just what is involved into creating these structures on such a massive scale! It’s perfect for anyone who has a keen interest in architecture, Casinos or if you just want to watch some MASSIVE buildings being constructed!
