Here at Grosvenor Casinos, we’ve been working with a very special charity for the last six years. Carers Trust is the largest charity dedicated to carers in the UK, giving support and providing services to people who care, unpaid, for a loved one.
We’ve raised some £2.5 million for the charity so far, helping the unsung, often overlooked heroes in our communities. Carers dedicate their time and energy to their loved ones, looking after a friend or relative who is frail, ill, has a disability or mental health or addiction problems.
At a time when we all need to be pulling together as a society, to help those most in need, we thought we’d share a little more about Carers Trust and tell you how you can get involved.
The work of Carers Trust
The history of Carers Trust goes back all the way to 1974, when Crossroads Care was set up to help families who care for someone. Fast-forward to 1991 and the launch of the Princess Royal Trust for Carers, dedicated to providing information, support and recognition to carers.
It’s these two wonderful charities that founded Carers Trust in 2012, with the aim of helping and supporting carers in any way it could.
Now, through grants, independent partners, and education services, they’re able to help unpaid carers get access to the money and services they need to live their lives. For more information about the fantastic work they do, visit the Carers Trust website.
Grosvenor and Carers Trust
Grosvenor first got involved with Carers Trust in 2014, and have been working with them ever since to raise money, provide grants, and support the wonderful work they do every day.
We’ve set up three funds in total: the Carers Essentials Fund, the Carers Take Time Out Fund, and the Carers Skills Fund. Through these funds, carers are able to apply for grants towards the cost of things like vital equipment, replacement care so they can take some much-needed time off, and education to learn a new skill or return to work.
We’re delighted to say that we’ve raised some £2.5 million for Carers Trust over the last six years, helping more than 11,000 carers. But we’re not stopping there.
