The greatest horse race in the UK is almost upon us – the 2019 Grand National.
Ever since the inception of the race back in 1839 there has been some quirky named horses take part in the race, none more so than the first ever Grand National Winner – Lottery.
In recent years though there’s been even more strange names amongst the Grand National runners with the likes of Shakalakaboomboom, Just in Debt, Forpadydeplasterer and Shutthefrontdoor to name just a few.
There are a number of rules to adhere to when naming your horse, which include:
- Maximum of 18 characters (Including spaces).
- No vulgar words.
- Cannot be named after a famous person who is still alive or someone who has died in the last 50 years without obtaining permission.
Here at Grosvenor Sport, we have decided to compile a quiz like no other. Work through 15 names and try to guess whether they are Grand National winning horses or metal bands. Yes, you heard right: metal bands. Stop horsing around and get started…
