After a cracking turnout for Day 1 and over 800 entries in the opening events, we roll on to the Tuesday 6-max events with 3 chances to lock-in a substantial cash injection and do some significant damage on the Road to Vegas Leader board. We also welcomed our first of two High Roller events to the GCOOP schedule, a £225 buy-in with a £10,000 guarantee…
GCOOP: #2-Hi 6-Max £5,000 GTD, £30 Buy-in (1R)
The 6-Max High event racked up a £6,916 prizepool, smashing the guarantee, with 165 players battling it out for a £1,954 first prize.
It was ‘StakattakGC’ who brought home the bacon on this occasion, knocking out Grosvenor Poker Sponsored Pro Rick_Trigg after 13 hands of their heads-up battle. The final hand saw ‘StakattakGC’ call Trigg’s button open with K⋄5⋄ and check raise the flush draw on a 2⋄ 4♠ 9⋄ before Trigg made the call. The J♣ fell on the turn and both players checked before the 4⋄ fell on the river completing ‘StakattakGC’s flush. ‘StakattakGC’ bet around half pot into Trigg, before seeing a big jam from the sponsored pro – fairly even stacks. ‘StakattakGC’ made the call and sent Trigg to the rail, who tabled the A⋄T♣, a strong move with the A⋄ blocker.
Congratulations to ‘StakattakGC’ on a fantastic score and 150 points towards the Road to Vegas Leaderboard!
GCOOP: #2-Lo 6-Max £3,000 GTD, £5 Buy-in (1R)
A tasty overlay for those shooting at the 6-max-Lo event last night, 222 players paying £5 for effectively a £10 tournament as £1,468 was added to the prizepool.
‘Eclipse101’ was the main benefactor, picking up £810 for their night’s grind, not allowing the sun to shine down on resident Grosvenor Pro ‘JoeBeevers’, who was the unfortunate runner-up.
The final hand saw Joe go deep into the tank with his tournament life on the line, after Eclipse101 put the lot in on the river. Joe checked over 9♥ 8♣ on a 6♥ T⋄ 3♥ 9♣ A♣ run-out, after leading flop and turn vs Eclipse101’s button limp and eventually made the call only to see the bad news when Eclipse101 flipped over the A⋄ 9⋄ for two pair and the win!
Congratulations to Eclipse101, a punchy payday, 150 Road to Vegas Leaderboard points and the additional bragging rights of knocking out a pro heads-up!
GCOOP: #3-Roller 6-Max £10,000 GTD, £225 Buy-in (FO)
There were a few familiar names that found their way to the Final Table of the first GCOOP High Roller and it’s impossible not to mention Sponsored Pro Rick_Trigg once again, who has now made 3 final tables in the opening 5 GCOOP events, following his $700,000 win the Sunday Million last week. It wasn’t to be for Trigg though, crashing out in 5th this time around. Shout outs also go to ‘Toffster’ (3rd), ‘zrGrizz’ (4th), ‘SNGwonder’ (6th) for cracking runs.
The spotlight was on ‘BowieEffect’ and ‘therakster’ this time around, as they battled heads-up for a £5k payday and the high roller crown. Therakster started heads-up with a 2:1 chip lead, but it was flipped on its head before what was the final hand of the night. Therakster limp-shoved the button after a raise from BowieEffect, which was met by a call and we were given the classic coinflip situation. BowieEffect tabling A♠ T♥, Therakster tabling 6⋄ 6♠… The flop came out 78T, giving BowieEffect a bit of a sweat for the win, but the 3♠ and K♣ were no help for Therakster on the turn and river.
A great final table to finish a strong night of poker on grosvenorpoker.com, congratulations to BowieEffect, a more than worthy victor, also racking up 150 points for the Road to Vegas Leaderboard!
GCOOP: Road to Vegas Leaderboard
Two days down, 5 of 18 events completed, zrGrizz leads the hunt for the £3,500 Vegas packages adding a 4th place finish in Event #3-High Roller 6-Max to his 5th place finish in Event #1-Hi.
Eclipse101, glaxy88 and Monkey47 make up the top 3, but there will be plenty of movement every day on this leaderboard, as we learned back in November for GCOOP 1. It’s possible to come from the back of the pack and make the top 3 at the end of the week, especially with the double points in the two Main Events this coming Sunday.
Those chasing will be looking to get themselves as best placed come the weekend to be in with a chance for the top 3.
