Formula One arrives in Brazil this week, with Lewis Hamilton already crowned champion. His parade will begin here, and it is hard to see the race weekend having such an electric atmosphere with the season already decided.
This weekend provides a great platform for drivers to impress, and teams to at least end their season on a positive note.
Our F1 expert talks through the best bets from the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Mercedes success to continue
Germans have dominated in Brazil in recent years, with four of the last five races won by either Sebastian Vettel or Nico Rosberg. Vettel won last year’s race, and enters as race favourite at 6/4.
Hamilton is 2/1 to win yet another race, but I imagine he will be off the pace and just enjoying the occasion. Mercedes are also reasonably successful at this track however, so team-mate Valterri Bottas could offer real value at 6/1.
Verstappen keen to build on win
Red Bull have really sorted out their car recently, and after Max Verstappen’s win in Mexico, I think they could build off that momentum and Daniel Ricciardo will be searching for a signature win to sign off his Red Bull career. Verstappen is 10/1 to qualify on pole, and Ricciardo is 12/1 to win the Brazilian Grand Prix. Ricciardo to beat Verstappen in qualifying yet finish behind him in the race is 7/2.
Stoffel Vandoorne really needs a good drive this season, and time is swiftly running out. No driver in F1 is a bad one, but he just hasn’t had the luck or a car that has been consistent enough. If he can turn it on in Brazil, it would be great for him and McLaren. Vandoorne to qualify in the top 10 and finish the race in the points is 20/1, and after his very successful eighth last time round, could be worth a shot.
Flying Finn?
I think that, despite the title being won, and maybe Vettel and Hamilton lacking motivation, this will be a really strong Grand Prix. Bottas will be hungry for a win, and at 6/1, in an excellent car, looks an exceptional bet.
