Formula 1 | Hamilton to reign supreme in Canada | Preview and odds

Stop seven on the F1 calendar and we head to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix with Lewis Hamilton topping the standings.

Our F1 tipster previews the weekend’s action as Hamilton looks to increase his lead which currently stands at 14.

Hamilton aiming for four in a row

Championship leader Lewis Hamilton returns to one of his favourite venues in the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. The Brit has won there an incredible six times including on the last three occasions and is seeking to further cement his supremacy at the top of the drivers’ championship.

His lead is currently 14 points and while he couldn’t challenge Daniel Ricciardo or Sebastian Vettel in Monaco, the championship leader will be confident of bouncing back in Canada this weekend.

Hamilton is 5/4 favourite with Grosvenorsport.com for the latest leg of the F1 calendar.

Vettel and Ricciardo lead chasing pack

While Hamilton has ruled supreme in Montreal in recent times, Vettel and Ricciardo have enjoyed some success. Both have won at the circuit, with Vettel on the podium on the last three occasions.

The German sits second in the overall standings and needs valuable points to make sure Hamilton’s lead at the top doesn’t become too great.

Riccardio, meanwhile, comes into this race off the back of an inspired performance in Monaco where despite having serious power problems for all but 18 of the 78-lap race, he managed to nurse home his battered Red Bull home in front of his rivals.

Vettel is the 7/4 favourite for the race in Canada, while Ricciardo, who appears to have a avoided a grid penalty for engine component changes, is 14/1.

Hamilton to reign supreme again

Based on his recent record in Canada, Hamilton looks pretty good value at 5/4 to record his seventh victory. While he’s by far the most likely winner, if the rumours are true and Riccardio does avoid a grid penalty, 14/1 could look a big price and he must surely be supported each-way based in his recent performances.
