Formula 1 | Canadian Grand Prix | Preview and Odds

The latest stage in the F1 calendar is the Canadian Grand Prix.

After the Mercedes one-two dominance finally broke in Monaco, the German giants will look to respond in typical fashion. There is also an emerging chance that either Hamilton or Bottas win every single race this season.

Our F1 expert looks forward to the Canadian Grand Prix and shares the best Formula 1 bets ahead of the race.

Hamilton to match Schumacher record?

The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve has long been associated with legends of Grand Prix racing, from the driver the racecourse is named after to Michael Schumacher, who famously won seven races here.

Lewis Hamilton has the opportunity to draw level with him on a record-breaking seven successes at this famous circuit, and he will be very confident with Mercedes being imperious so far this season.

Only once have they not locked out the 1-2 this season, and that was in Monaco, where overtaking is famously very difficult. Mercedes are just 8/15 to have both drivers finish on the podium again in Canada, and Lewis Hamilton is 6/5 to win his seventh Canadian GP.

Vettel to make it back-to-back wins in Canada?

Sebastian Vettel won here last year, and this represents his latest chance to claim his first chequered flag of the 2019 Championship.

Ferrari have been very disappointing this year, and the debacle of qualifying at Monaco ended Charles Leclerc’s home Grand Prix before it really began.

The iconic team need to turn up here, or it could have serious implications for Vettel come the end of the season, if he feels they are no longer in a position to challenge.

Vettel is 7/2 to win here, but Leclerc is 4/6 to make the podium, which I feel offers value.

Team head-to-head market appeals

In the team head-to-head market, the battle between the Renault’s has been excellent this year, despite them performing below par.

Although Daniel Ricciardo is the more well-known driver, Nico Hulkenberg is also extremely talented. This should be an excellent battle on the Montreal circuit, and Ricciardo can finish ahead of his teammate here as they both look to reassert Renault’s status in the paddock.

Ricciardo is 4/5 to finish ahead of his teammate in this race.
