Five of London’s Best Mother’s Day Treats

Get into your mum’s good books by surprising her with one of these Mother’s Day treats on Sunday 15 March.    

Best for lunch: The Orangery 

Treat your mum like a Queen by taking her for lunch at The Orangery at Kensington Palace on Mothering Sunday.

Menu highlights at this elegant venue include baked chicken leg or whole Cornish plaice for main, and dark chocolate mousse or burnt lemon tart for dessert.

Two courses cost £21.50, while three courses are £26.50. Alternatively, The Orangery’s luxurious afternoon tea features posh finger sandwiches, scones, pastries and cakes with the finest loose leaf teas, tisanes or coffee.

A harpist will be providing the soothing soundtrack between 2pm and 4pm, and all mothers will be given a free glass of Merlot Rose Spumante.

Best for Sunday Roast: Hunter 486 at The Arch 

Give something back to the most important woman in your life by treating her to a roast chicken feast for the whole family to share. Set in London’s Marble Arch, The Arch’s Hunter 486 restaurant will be offering a roast dinner, priced at £35 for two or £60 for four people.

The roast Norfolk Black free range chicken is amazingly succulent as it is cooked at a very high heat in the restaurant’s stone oven. The chicken is brought to the table whole and is served with roast garlic, roast potatoes, aioli, parsley and caper sauce and gravy.

Best for cocktails: Lancaster London 

Your mum will love sipping the brilliantly-named Mummylicious cocktail, on offer at Lancaster London’s classy bar which overlooks Hyde Park. A zesty cocoction of fresh strawberry, lime, cranberry and vodka, the dreamy cocktail has been specially created with mothers in mind.

Feeling peckish? The hotel’s Island Grill restaurant is the perfect spot to enjoy a three-course Mother’s Day Day Sunday Roast.

Mums will be given a free glass of Laurent Perrier Champagne and a box of chocolates with their lunch which will be served from midday for just £25.

Best for afternoon tea: Le Chalet at Selfridges 

After a spot of retail therapy in Selfridges, head to the department store’s alpine-style rooftop restaurant for a decadent afternoon tea, which includes tempting finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam, baked teacakes and pastries.

Best for splashing the cash: Fortnum & Mason 

For a cool £7,500, you can gift your precious mum with Fortnum’s Ultimate Mother’s Day Experience.

The day begins when a chauffeur arrives at your designated address, presenting your mother with a bouquet of her favourite flowers. A butler will prepare some bespoke breakfast cocktails, while a professional chef cooks up a bountiful breakfast for the whole family.

You’ll all be chauffered to Fortnum’s Piccadilly store, where your mum will receive consultations with a perfumer and a milliner, while the family joins a personal shopper to select the finest Mother’s Day gifts.
