The Kia Super League draws to a close with Finals Day this weekend at Hove.
Western Storm have progressed straight through to the final after a stellar campaign, and they will face either Loughborough Lightning or Southern Vipers who face off in the semi-final earlier in the day.
Our cricket expert previews the semi-final and gives you the best cricket bets to look out for.
Wyatt and Jones hold batting key
England international Danni Wyatt has been in excellent form so far in the Kia Super League, averaging over 40.
The 28-year-old Lightning star has scored one of the two centuries in the tournament, with her 110 coming against Surrey Stars.
She comes into the game on the back on an uncharacteristic duck against the Vipers in what proved to be a semi-final warm-up on Wednesday, but I would back her to respond in fine style and I will take the 5/2 on offer to be the top run-scorer for Lightning.
Amy Jones is another to have shined in the tournament with three half-centuries, and in the same match on Tuesday she looked in fine form with an unbeaten 74 steering them to a 36-run win over the Vipers.
That made it back-to-back half-centuries for the 26-year-old, and I believe she can keep up that good run at Hove and she’s 11/4 to finish as Lightning’s top scorer.
Verdict
Western ‘stormed’ their way to top spot, suffering their first defeat in their final group game, and are the side to beat in the final.
Loughborough’s only defeats came at the hands of Storm and Vipers, so it’s fair to say these sides deserve their spot at Finals Day.
The Lightning will be keen to make amends for their near-miss last season, having finished the regular season in top spot, only to lose out to Surrey Stars by 66 runs on Finals Day.
On top of that, they will be eyeing revenge for the defeat in the final league game of the season, and if Wyatt delivers on the big stage, I see Loughborough earning their spot in the final, and look good value at 9/10 to meet Western in the final showdown.
