If deemed necessary, the second-highest, third-highest, fourth-highest, and fifth-highest cards can be used to break the tie. However, if all five cards are the same rank, the pot is split. In poker, the suit cannot be used to break a tie.
6. Straight
A straight is five cards in sequence, and it does not have to be in the same suit. With a straight, an Ace can rank as either high (above a King) or low (below a 2).
7. Three of a kind
Three cards of the same rank in different suits and two unrelated side cards. If there is a tie, the highest-ranking three of a kind wins. If players have the same three of a kind, the highest side card, and if required, the second-highest side card wins.
8. Two Pairs
Two cards of a matching rank and another two cards of a different matching rank, as well as one side card. If there is a tie at the poker table, the highest pair wins. If players have the same highest pair, the highest second pair wins. If both players have two identical pairs, the highest side card wins.
9. Pair
A pair in poker refers to two cards of the same rank in different suits, another two cards of a different matching rank, and one side card. The highest pair wins if there is a tie at the poker table. If players have the same highest pair, the highest second pair wins. If both players have two identical pairs, the highest second card wins.
10. High card
We’ve reached the lowest rank in poker. Of course, this means it would kick into effect if you haven’t made any of the above hands. You would have to rely on the highest-ranked card in your hand.
