Champions League Final | Liverpool v Tottenham | Preview and Odds

Europe’s elite footballing competition reaches its thrilling climax in Madrid on Saturday evening. This year’s competition has produced some incredible moments thus far, with both Liverpool and Tottenham hoping there is another one waiting for them.

The Champions League has  been ruled by La Liga teams in recent years, with Real Madrid clinching a record 13th title just last season and AC Milan the next most successful side with seven trophies.

Now though, we have an all-English final on our hands for the first time since Chelsea and Manchester United faced off in Moscow in 2008. Our football expert runs through some of the best bets for Spurs and Liverpool’s almighty clash this Saturday in Madrid.

Both teams to score?

Backing both teams to score might come at a not-so-mouth-watering 4/6 price but there’s a reason it’s odds on. Champions League finals can tend to be cagey affairs, with both sides sitting back, but that does not lend itself to the style of either of these two sides.

Both outfits have scored in five of the last six meetings across all competitions and each of the last seven Champions League finals have seen both teams score.

Goalscorers

In terms of the goalscorers to get behind, Sadio Mane at 6/4 to net at any time certainly whets the appetite. He brought Liverpool back into the game in last season’s final and has also scored 13 times in his side’s last 16 games. Moreover, he has found the back of the net four times so far in this Champions League campaign which renders him the Reds’ top scorer along with Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino.

It’s always tricky predicting scores of major footballing finals as it can depend on so much more than who has the better starting XI or the strongest bench, etc. However, Liverpool’s last four wins over Spurs have seen three 2-1 scorelines.

Grosvenor are offering a tasty 7/1 for another 2-1 Liverpool victory at the Wanda Metropolitano this weekend.
