Grand National Winner or Metal Band?

The greatest horse race in the UK is almost upon us – the 2019 Grand National.

Ever since the inception of the race back in 1839 there has been some quirky named horses take part in the race, none more so than the first ever Grand National Winner – Lottery.

In recent years though there’s been even more strange names amongst the Grand National runners with the likes of Shakalakaboomboom, Just in Debt, Forpadydeplasterer and Shutthefrontdoor to name just a few.

One of the greatest racing spectacles of the season is not too far away – the 2019 Grand National.

The Grand National is steeped in history and dates all the way back to 1839 when Lottery became the first winner, and it is now the feature race at the Aintree Grand National Festival,  which takes place from April 4-6 at the Liverpool-based track.

It is one, if not the most bet on race in the horse racing calendar in the UK while millions of people up and down the country are glued to their TV screens to watch the big race. Even those who are not regular punters place a bet on the race and with a packed field of 40 runners each and every year, there are plenty of horses for people to choose from.
