We’re reached the final day of the November Cheltenham meeting and I’ve got three rides back-to-back to look forward to.
Read my preview on Nube Negra, West Cork, and Pikar below:
Nube Negra (2.20pm)
We’ve been very happy with him at home. This race became our main plan because of the ground and the way he’s been working at home. He’s a stronger horse now and he’s a lightly-raced seven-year-old, so he should still be improving. He goes well fresh and I’d like to think he has a good chance, but he’s taking on the Champion Chase winner and has to give her 7lbs again which will be hard. He’ll certainly make her work for it, though.
West Cork (2.55pm)
He had to miss last year with an unfortunate injury, but he’s made a full recovery and has a bit of class about him. He was second in the Grade 2 Dovecote when last seen over hurdles in February 2020. He’s coming into a really hot race first time out, but he’s done loads of work and this will tell us a lot more about where we go afterwards.
Pikar (3.30pm)
We’ve always quite liked him and he showed up well at Chepstow on debut. He’s going into a good race here, he’s only four and we hope he can run well. If he won we’d all be delighted, but we’re pitching him in at the deep end.
