Million Pound Picks Gameweek 24: Premier League Preview

Welcome to another week of Million Pound Picks, your chance to land a load of cash for predicting some Premier League goalscorers. And a Championship one. There’s a momentous £1M jackpot just waiting to be won, while we’re giving away £2000 to one lucky player every single week. And there’s a feast of Free Bets too for anyone getting three out of 10 correct.

For all the ins and outs of how to play and how to win, check out our Beginner’s Guide. But in a nutshell, you need to pick 10 goalscorers by 12:25pm on Saturday. And if you read on, you can find out which fixtures you need to choose from along with our 10 tips, and some Premier League betting odds. Let’s go!

Saturday

Well, we told you last week that Timo Werner was going to score against Newcastle. And he did. Unfortunately, Olivier Giroud got there first – so we’re taking Timo (5/1) again. Southampton are desperately out of form and it’s hard to look past Thomas Tuchel’s rejuvenated Chelsea.

There’s another lunchtime game for you to tuck into and it comes from the Championship. Brentford had climbed to the Championship summit before a shock 2-0 defeat at home to Barnsley, but they can get back on track at Coventry City. Ivan Toney’s goal tally is all you need to look at – he’s the safe selection for the Bees. 11/10 anytime or 13/2 to score two goals or more.

Back to the Premier League, where West Brom earned a deserved point against Man Utd last weekend – but draws simply won’t do at this stage of the season. Three against Burnley, one of the few ever-so-slightly catchable teams would be huge. But the Clarets were vintage at Crystal Palace last weekend and Jay Rodriguez is our pick to open the scoring against the Premier League’s worst defence. The Burnley man is a tempting 2/1 anytime.

The Merseyside derby on Saturday evening is looking tasty again. Liverpool are on the slide, and Everton are just three points behind with two games in hand. However, the Toffees were flat against Fulham and Klopp’s men looked impressive against Leicester until an inexplicable collapse. Mo Salah is our selection.

Last but not least, two of the bottom three meet at Craven Cottage. Probably for the first time this season, Sheffield United looked resigned to the drop when folding against West Ham in midweek whereas Fulham have a glimmer of hope. Josh Maja was the inspiration at Goodison Park and we can’t think of a good reason why the two-goal hero shouldn’t be the Saturday night selection.

Sunday

London derby. West Ham looking good. Tottenham not. This really could depend on the fitness of Michail Antonio and we wouldn’t put you off him, but has Mourinho got enough in his locker to outwit David Moyes? He has got Son and Kane, and chances will come – we’re backing the Spurs skipper but it’s a close call in what should be a tight affair.

Midlands derby. Aston Villa looking good. Leicester looking good. This really could depend on… In all seriousness, this could be a great game. But Jack Grealish has been shackled in the past couple of games and the Foxes excel on their travels. Leicester the more likely, Vardy the most likely.

A Salah, Kane and Vardy anytime treble is available with Grosvenor Sport at 17/2.

Then it’s all eyes on the Manchester pair, with City travelling to Arsenal and United hosting Newcastle. Man City literally cannot stop winning and we don’t see the Gunners stopping them, despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang reminding everyone what a top striker he is with last weekend’s hat-trick. We’ll just say Ilkay Gundogan because the man is in the form of his life.

Man Utd aren’t in great form but this is a great chance to get back on track. Make no mistake, Steve Bruce’s Newcastle are not good. And despite dropping points against Sheffield Utd and WBA in recent weeks, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will relish this one. Edinson Cavani could be the man most likely to profit.

Monday

Another rivalry on Monday night, and it’s THAT one. Brighton against Crystal Palace. Graham Potter has guided his side to some big results in recent weeks, but this will be the biggest of the lot. Alexis Mac Allister scored a last-minute leveller in the reverse fixture and tried his luck no fewer than six times against Villa last week. Let’s see if his luck is in during the A23 derby – especially at 21/2 to score first!
