The PDC heads Down Under for the World Series of Darts triple header, with the opening tournament coming in the form of the Brisbane Masters.
Rob Cross won the event last year, but Michael van Gerwen and co will look to take the crown off ‘Voltage’ this time around.
Who will come out on top? Our darts betting expert previews all the action and gives you the best bets.
MvG struggling
Michael van Gerwen may be the world number one at this moment in time, and while of course, he has the potential at any given moment to blow the field away, he heads to Oz in arguably his poorest run of results for some time.
Despite his vulnerability of late, he is still the 6/4 favourite to win the title in Australia, however, had he been in any sort of form he would have started at odds-on prices.
With all that in mind, I fancy him to be toppled once again.
Gurney in the mix
Daryl Gurney reached the semi-finals of the World Matchplay, only to be denied a spot in the Blackpool final by a ridiculous run of legs from Cross.
He will fancy his chances of going deep into the tournament and is 10/1 to win he could represent good each-way value.
Besides Gurney and Rob Cross, Peter Wright is in the form of his life. He had won 21 matches on the spin before being dumped out of the World Matchplay.
Alongside Cross, he is 9/2 to win, but he always seems to just fall short and I fancy him to keep up that tradition once again in Australia
Cross to make it back-to-back Brisbane wins?
Rob Cross heads into the tournament in arguably the best form of his career. After winning the World Championship in 2018, ‘Voltage’ initially struggled, but now looks to back on form.
The 33-year-old goes Down Under on the back of winning the World Matchplay title thanks to an 18-13 victory over Michael Smith.
Cross showed what champions are made of in Blackpool, coming from 15-9 down against Daryl Gurney in the semi-final to book his spot in the final.
His win in Blackpool meant he joined an illustrious list including just Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson as players to win both the World Matchplay and the World Championship.
On form alone, Cross looks hard to beat and at odds of 9/2, I fancy him to come out on top once again in Australia.
