Understanding Roulette pay-out
Roulette pay-outs odds are worked out in the form of x to 1, meaning you will win x pound for every pound you have bet.
For example, if you place a bet to win on just one number the pay-out is 35 to 1, therefore you will get £35 back, plus your original £1 stake.

Pay-outs on outside bets
These tend to be the safer bets, simply because the odds of winning are much better and are often known as even money bets.
They effectively split the table in half, whether you bet in the form of red or black, even or odd, or 1-18 and 19-36.
The only exception is if you are betting on zero in European roulette and double zero in American roulette.

Other outside bets include the first, second or third dozen numbers (1-12, 13-24 and 25-36). The chances of winning a bet on a dozen are 32.43% in European roulette and 31.58% in the American version, with the pay-out 2/1. This also applies to column bets.
Pay-outs on inside bets
These bets offer greater potentially winnings but have a lower possibility of being successful. They include bets on individual numbers or groups of numbers. The types of inside bets include:
Straights: Bets on single numbers. These have the lowest possibility, and return the highest payout 35/1.
Splits: Bets across two numbers. These have a 17-1 pay-out.
Street: Bets across three numbers, for example 4,5,6. This bet offers a payout of 11-1.
Corner: Also known as a square or a quarter bet, for example 8, 9, 11 & 12. The pay-out is 8-1.
Six Line: Bet across six numbers with a pay-out of 5-1.
