At Grosvenor Casino, we have always carried a passion for sports. And we have made sure to cater for those who share this passion as well at our online casino! Today, we have rated the best golfers of all time, and now it’s time to find out the best golf swings to have graced the game over the years.
We have all watched Happy Gilmour and seen that ‘perfect’ swing, but no matter what a golf swing looks like there is only one thing which matters – the end result.
Over the years there have been some golf swings which look like works of art which have taken golfers to many a Major win, and some more industrious swings.
Every single detail is now analysed at the top level, and you can put plenty of time and effort in to perfecting your swing to produce the best results.
A few of the golfers mentioned below will be at the US Open in Pebble Beach this week, and Grosvenorsport.com take a look over some of the best golf swings ever.
Ben Hogan
When you first take up golf almost every instructor highlights the swing of Hogan as one of the best, and it stands the test of time.
The swing is simple, but powerful, beautiful and effective.
Let the man talk you through it himself here…
Retief Goosen
He may have only won two Majors in his career, but there are very few swings which look as good as that of the South African.
It looks effortless, and while he is not one of the longest, it proves to be very effective and has stood him in good stead to stay at the top of the game for a number of years now.
Fred Couples
Another example of a languid looking stroke, but very effective is that of Fred Couples, despite having to make alterations to it throughout his career due to injury.
It’s effortless, and that is often the key to a good swing. Many casual golfers start off thinking you have to hit the ball as hard as you possibly can to hit it furthest – but that couldn’t be further from the truth.
If you look at Couples’ swing, it is a thing of beauty and has helped him to win the Masters back in 1992, as well as top-three finishes in all the other Majors.
Tiger Woods
Tiger Woods’ swing may not look the most beautiful but it has certainly delivered on the biggest stage.
The 15-time Major winner had the swing of envy back in 2000 when under the tutelage of Butch Harman which produced some devastating results
Injuries may have taken something away from his game in recent years but his ability to strike the ball well can never be in question.
One of his most famous wins, where his swing was in evidence, was the US Open at Pebble Beach in 2002 and is one of the favourites once again in Grosvenorsport.com’s golf betting odds for this year’s event at the same venue.
Rory McIlroy
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and many believe McIlroy’s swing to be right up there with the best.
Again it is a simple and effective swing and while he will tell you he just wants to ‘grip it and rip it’ you wouldn’t be able to tell that from his swing.
It is solid from the moment he starts the swing until he hits the ball and there’s a reason why he will continue to challenge at the top of the game for a number of years to come.
It’s often the simplest swings which can prove to be effective, and this is epitomised in McIlroy’s.
Sam Snead
Sam Snead had one of the sweetest and rhythmic swings the game has ever seen.
In addition to that, he has one of the most powerful swings around and that earned him the nickname ‘The Slammer’.
Snead’s swing helped him to seven Major wins, with the only one which escaped him being the US Open where he finished second on four occasions.
Adam Scott
The Australian has undoubtedly one of the best swings around in the game.
As Scott broke on to the golfing scene his swing has continued to improve and like so many of the others mentioned, it seems almost effortless yet delivers an outstanding amount of power which helped him win the Masters in 2013 as well as top-five finishes in all the other Majors.
