England World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst will pick 10 first goal scorers each week for the 2018/19 Grosvenor Goals campaign. Grosvenor Goals gives users the chance to win £1 million if their 10 chosen players are all first goal scorers in a given game week.
The free-to-play game will also offer £10k for anyone who predicts 10 anytime goal scorers from their selections, with a £10 free bet to those who successfully pick three or more first scorers each week.
Sir Geoff will play his part too – if four or more of his selected first goal scorers hit the back of the net in a game week, all users who play Grosvenor Goals that week will win a £10 free bet.
England’s 1966 hero shares his picks for game week 35.
1. Manchester City v Tottenham (Saturday 12.30pm – Raheem Sterling)
Raheem Sterling’s superb season just gets better and better after his 16th and 17th Premier League goals against Crystal Palace helped Man City to a 3-1 win. The English attacker now has 27 for club and country this season, and Sir Geoff is backing him to score first against Spurs in the early kick-off.
2. Bournemouth v Fulham (Saturday, 3pm – Joshua King)
It might have come as a surprise for many not to see Joshua King on the scoresheet for Bournemouth in their 5-0 thumping of Brighton last weekend, so the Norwegian marksman will be keen to put that right against Fulham this weekend. With 11 goals in this campaign, King has already bettered his total from last season.
3. Huddersfield v Watford (Saturday, 3pm – Gerard Deulofeu)
Watford have been one of the success stories of this season, and Gerard Deulofeu is the type of player that gets Hornets fans off their seats. Two goals in the FA Cup semi-final a few weeks ago took him to nine for the season, and he’ll be out to hit double figures before the season is finished. The Spaniard scored against the Terriers in a 3-0 win back in October and is fancied to do so again.
4. West Ham v Leicester (Saturday, 3pm – Felipe Anderson)
West Ham were desperately unlucky not to take at least a draw away from their visit to Old Trafford last weekend. A goal from Felipe Anderson got them back in it, and the Brazilian looked a constant threat for the Hammers. He’ll be important if the London side are to take anything against Leicester this weekend, and Sir Geoff has backed Anderson to score first in the match for his old side.
5. Wolves v Brighton (Saturday, 3pm – Diogo Jota)
While Raul Jimenez has received many plaudits this season, his strike partner Diogo Jota’s work rate and unselfish play perhaps goes unnoticed at times. The Portuguese still has eight goals to his name this season, and he has been picked to get Nuno Espirito Santo’s side off and running this weekend.
6. Newcastle v Southampton (Saturday, 3pm – Ayoze Perez)
Newcastle shocked Leicester last Friday with a 1-0 win at the King Power, and it was Ayoze Perez’s strike that made the difference. The Magpies will be keen to take all three points at home against Southampton, and Sir Geoff has backed Perez to make it two in two.
7. Everton v Manchester United (Sunday, 1.30pm – Paul Pogba)
Paul Pogba helped Man United get out of jail with two expertly taken penalty kicks against West Ham as the Red Devils ran out 2-1 winners. The strikes were the Frenchman’s 11th and 12th Premier League goals of the season, and one of those came against Everton earlier this season. He’s been backed to score first at Goodison Park in what will be a crucial game in the race for the Champions League spots.
8. Arsenal v Crystal Palace (Sunday, 4pm – Aaron Ramsey)
Since Aaron Ramsey announced he’ll be leaving the Gunners to join Juventus in the summer, he has scored three in seven matches for the north London outfit. While he hasn’t been prolific this season, he’ll want to finish on a high and Sir Geoff thinks he’ll score first on Saturday at the Emirates against Crystal Palace.
9. Cardiff City v Liverpool (Sunday, 4pm – Sadio Mane)
Sadio Mane is in the form of his life at the moment, and another goal on Sunday against Chelsea took the Senegalese striker to 18 for the season. Liverpool’s front three have been on fire recently, and Sir Geoff could have backed any one of them to break the deadlock, but given Mane’s record of opening the scoring recently, he has been picked for this one.
10. Chelsea v Burnley (Monday, 8pm – Eden Hazard)
While Eden Hazard and Chelsea were defeated by Liverpool at the weekend, the Belgian attacker has still been in good form of late, scoring a double against West Ham and one against Brighton to make it three in his last four. Burnley will be tasked with keeping Hazard quiet in the Monday night kick-off, but he’s been picked as the man to get Chelsea off and running at Stamford Bridge.
