With nine weeks left in the Premier League season there is still plenty to play for at both ends of the table.
Man City returned to top spot after last week’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth, while Liverpool could only draw 0-0 with Everton last Sunday.
Fulham and Huddersfield may well be doomed at the other end of the table, but who joins them back in the Championship remains to be seen.
In addition to that, there is the small matter of Arsenal v Man Utd on Sunday, and our football betting expert picks out the best bets from the pick of the Premier League games over the weekend.
Crystal Palace v Brighton
Dubbed the M23 derby, both sides will be keen to pick up all three points to boost their bid to avoid the drop.
Both sides come into the game on the back of morale-boosting wins last weekend, as Palace beat the in-form Burnley 3-1 at Turf Moor, while Florin Andone came off the bench to help Chris Hughton’s Seagulls to a much-needed three points.
It’s easy to see why Palace are 4/5 favourites to win this weekend, while Brighton are 7/2 having just picked up eight points away from the Amex Stadium all season.
Goals look like they are on the cards in this fixture, with Roy Hodgson’s side having scored in each of their last 12 games in all competitions, while Brighton have also found the net in all their last six away matches.
With that in mind, the bet that looks attractive to me is for Palace to win and both teams to score, which can be backed at 3/1.
Liverpool v Burnley
Just when it matters most, Liverpool seem to have hit a sticky patch and now trail Man City by one point in the race for the title.
By the time the Reds play this weekend, they could be four points behind Pep Guardiola’s side presuming they see off Watford in the late kick-off on Saturday.
That will put the pressure firmly on the Anfield outfit, but while they haven’t lost any of their last seven games in all competitions – they have won just two.
They remain solid at the back with 17 Premier League clean sheets so far, but the Reds have been hit and miss up top – with three 0-0 draws in that run against Bayern Munich, Man Utd and Everton, though they have also put three past Bournemouth and five against Watford in recent outings.
Sean Dyche’s side have lost their last two and are unsurprisingly 17/1 to pull off a shock win at Anfield. I just cannot see that happening, despite Jurgen Klopp’s side not at being at their best of late.
Back Liverpool to win both halves at 11/10.
Arsenal v Man Utd
The Premier League game of the weekend comes at the Emirates with two in-form sides set to serve up a classic.
The Gunners have lost just twice in the league since the turn of the year, and one of those came at the hands of Man City.
Meanwhile, the transformation since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival at Old Trafford has been nothing short of miraculous, with the Red Devils undefeated in their 12 Premier League games under the Norwegian.
That is all despite a number of injuries to key players, while they also defied the odds in overturning a 2-0 first leg deficit to book their spot in the last eight of the Champions League in midweek with a 3-1 second leg success at Paris St Germain.
Both sides look threatening going forward, but it’s at the back where they tend to struggle so you can expect goals in this game, and with that in mind, the perfect bet looks to be a draw and both teams to score, which is available at 3/1.
