After their shock win in the Test series, West Indies will look to carry that momentum into white ball cricket as they host England in a five match one-day series.
Extra emphasis to perform is placed on this series with the Cricket World Cup taking place this summer and with England favourites for the competition, they’ll be keen to make a big statement.
Our cricket betting expert brings you the best bets to look out for ahead of the series.
Gayle to blow the tourists away
After a brief absence away from the West Indies team, Chris Gayle returns to the side and with his World Cup place in doubt, he’ll be eager to deliver a big performance. Having played over 300 white-ball internationals there are very few people who have Gayle’s experience and despite being 39, he still remains one of the most exciting cricketers in the world.
After announcing he’ll retire later in the year, I think Gayle will show why he’ll go down as one of cricket’s greatest ever batsmen and at 5/2 with Grosvenor Sport, I think he’ll be the series top batsman.
Rashid to take the most wickets
Adil Rashid has become a key member of this one-day side in recent years and sharing the spinning responsibility with Moeen Ali has added variety to England’s bowling attack. Rashid heads into the series in fine form having taken two wickets in England’s final warm up match and in that form, the Yorkshireman could play a massive part in this series.
Rashid has been England’s top wicket taker in their last three series and in the form he’s currently in, it would be daft to suggest he couldn’t do it again and 3/1 to take the most wickets isn’t a bad price.
England won’t have it all their own way
England go into the series as heavy favourites and a series win is the minimum requirement for this side if they’re serious about their World Cup expectations. West Indies took England by surprise in the Test series and it wouldn’t amaze me if they were to cause the ODI side some difficulty either.
Having said that, this is an England side going places and I expect them to win in a 4-1 series victory which can be backed at 7/4.
