The final week of fixtures in the Super League season takes place this weekend, before the playoffs and the Million Pound Game.
Our Rugby League expert went four from four on his tips last week, and previews the best bets below.
Leeds v Toronto
It is an extremely tight Qualifiers table, but a win for either team here should see them in the top-flight next season. Toronto have taken the rugby league world by storm, achieving promotion in their first season, and are searching for a second successive promotion into the big time.
Leeds have had a torrid year by their standards, but will look to bounce back. The Rhinos quite rightly enter as comfortable favourites at 1/4, but you never know with Toronto, who have some excellent results in their short history, and are quite tempting at 11/4.
Despite this game having plenty on the line, I think we are in for an absolute showcase, and can foresee plenty of points for the paying public. Over 53.5 points can be found at 11/8 with Grosvenorsport.com.
St. Helens v Castleford
This game is my pick to actually be the Grand Final in a few weeks’ time, but instead stands as a dress rehearsal for the big day. Ben Barba has announced he will leave Saints at the end of the season, and he would surely love to go out with a title. Castleford are an excellent team, but I think both sides may look to rest players, and prepare for a tough playoff series.
I think the game will be closer than the scoreboard reflects, but think St. Helens will win quite comfortably in the end, and like the look of St. Helens with a -10.5 handicap, which is a good price at 5/6.
London Broncos v Halifax
In arguably one of the biggest games in Broncos’ recent history, they face a Halifax team already confined to another year outside the Super League, whereas Broncos sit in the Million Pound Game places.
A big win for Broncos, however, and other results going their way could see them pull off an improbable automatic promotion. London Broncos will be playing to win, and they will win big. But will it be enough? I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see them absolutely pour points on a struggling Halifax side, and would take them at a -30.5 handicap, which can be found at 3/1.
