Liverpool face their first away trip of the Premier League season – a tricky assignment against Crystal Palace.
Both sides won their opening matches of the new campaign, and will be looking to make it two in two on Monday night.
Our football tipster has taken a look through the best sports bets for Monday evening’s fixture.
Liverpool looking to keep pace at the top
Selhurst Park on a Monday night might bring back plenty of bad memories for Liverpool fans – mostly after the Reds threw away a 3-0 lead in what proved to be a pivotal 3-3 draw as they chased the title in 2014.
While the Dwight Gayle-inspired memories will still be fresh, Liverpool have gone some way to banishing them, winning on each of their last five trips to Crystal Palace, including a 2-1 victory in March.
Jurgen Klopp will be after the three points again tonight, as he hopes to keep pace at the top of the Premier League.
Five teams have won both of their opening matches so far, and with Manchester City looking just as dangerous as last season, any dropped points could be disastrous.
Liverpool began their season in some style, putting West Ham to the sword in a comfortable 4-0 victory at Anfield last weekend.
After spending big in the summer, the pressure is on the Reds to at least challenge City at the head of the table this year, and victory here could put down a marker that they mean business.
Liverpool are 2/5 with Grosvenorsport.com to win this one.
Eagles could soar this season
After a relegation battle last term, there’s plenty of optimism at Crystal Palace – helped by last Saturday’s 2-0 win at Fulham.
It took the Eagles until the eighth game of the season to register their first goal, let alone their first points – but after a resurgence under Roy Hodgson, they eventually rallied to finish the season in 11th.
Having kept star man Wilfried Zaha, they’ll be looking for a top-half finish this time around, and a positive result against Liverpool here would give them plenty of belief.
Palace are 13/2 to claim victory here, with the draw available at 4/1.
Backing unders can provide value
It’s almost counter-intuitive given the attacking talents on both sides, but I can see this being a relatively low scoring game.
Both sides kept clean sheets last week, and Hodgson will certainly be setting his side up to frustrate the Reds’ much vaunted front three of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
I can still see Liverpool winning this one, but I can’t see them opening Palace up as much as they did to West Ham last week.
There’s a lot more value in looking at the ‘unders’ for goals, and suggest backing under 2.5 goals at 5/2 – or if you’re really feeling brave, under 1.5 goals at 5/1.
If you’re looking for a first goalscorer, it might be worth noting that Sir Geoff Hurst has correctly picked four out of nine this weekend for Grosvenor Goals Game Week Two.
Sir Geoff has gone for Salah to net first in the final match – and if you’re following his selections, that can be backed at 3/1.
