Bayern Munich v Real Madrid | Preview and odds

This was certainly seen as the tie of the Champions League draw as two European heavyweights vie for place in the final in Kyiv.

Bayern Munich haven’t won the competition since 2013, while their opponents Real Madrid are going for a hat-trick of wins.

Our football betting expert has taken a look through the first leg clash in Germany.

Bayern hitting their stride

Bayern Munich were one of the few teams to play out a low-key affair in their Champions League quarter finals, drawing 0-0 at home to Sevilla after their 2-1 win away from home put them in the driving seat.

Against higher quality opponents in Real Madrid on Wednesday, they are more likely to play with a higher tempo.

The Bundesliga leaders have been far from slow since that tie though, having won all three of their matches and hammering Borussia Monchengladbach, Bayer Leverkusen, and Hannover 96 and scoring an impressive 14 goals in the process.

Confidence is flowing in Munich, which is reflected in the prices. Jupp Heynckes’ men are 10/11 with Grosvenorsport.com to take a first leg lead.

Ronaldo to keep scoring record going

While Bayern Munich’s Champions League quarter final may have passed without incident, Real Madrid’s was anything but.

In a season of dramatic matches their quarter-final second leg probably takes top spot. They went into their clash at the Santiago Bernabéu 3-0 up against Juventus, but found themselves 3-0 down with 30 minutes left to play.

Of course, the game was shrouded with controversy after referee Michael Oliver awarded an injury-time penalty for Real.

Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was sent off for dissent in probably his final Champions League appearance. Substitute goalkeeper Wojcech Szceszny had no chance of saving the penalty, with Cristiano Ronaldo dispatching it into the corner to continue his outrageous goalscoring form.

The Portuguese talisman now has 120 career goals in the Champions League, 15 of which have come in just ten games this season. This is 20 goals ahead of Lionel Messi, and he has scored in every single Champions League match for Real Madrid this season. He has averaged a goal every 60 minutes, so backing him for our anytime goalscorer predictions looks a great move.

The Real No 7 is 6/5 to score anytime.

Real to struggle at Fortress Allianz

Real Madrid may have Ronaldo, but Bayern Munich have form on their side.
Zinedine Zidane’s men have struggled at this season with the Champions League their last chance of silverware but they’re facing a Bayern side who haven’t lost a home game in any competition since April last year.

The Germans have won 19 of their 22 games at the Allianz Arena this season, so it’s hard to not back them to get the win on Wednesday.

Given it’s Real Madrid they’re up against, who have scored in 13 of their last 14 trips away, we’re predicting an end-to-end match and 6/4 for over 3.5 goals is tempting.

  1. Manuel Franco

I just want to say Thank You to everyone who supported me through the years. My name is Manuel Franco, New Berlin, Wisconsin. My story of how I won the Powerball lottery of $768.4M is a bit of a tale. I have been playing Powerball tickets for 6 years now since I turned 18. I bought my first ticket on my 18 birthday. I was feeling very lucky that day because I had contacted Dr. Odunga Michael to help me with the winning Powerball numbers. I really had that great great feeling that I looked at the camera wanting to wink at it. I only did a tiny part of it and trusted him. He gave me the numbers after I played a couple other tickets along with it for $10. I checked my ticket after the winnings came online and saw the numbers were correct including the Power play. I screamed for about 10 minutes because it felt like a dream. I had won $768.4M. You can check my winning testimony with the lottery officials just with my name search. Thank you Dr Odunga. Well, his email is odungaspelltemple@gmail.com and you can also call or Whats-app him at +2348167159012 so you guys can contact him
